FLOWERS OF BALI

Every single day this big 'ol' wooden bowl would be used to make the most spectacular display of floating flower petals! I was actually around at just the right time to catch this happening.... I never managed to do it again! What a fluke.
Voila! The finished result!
I tried to catch as many of the different designs as I could - but I definitely missed quite a few!

Needless to say they weren't the only gorgeous flowers to be seen!

and finally a petal of another sort......

the BALI holiday at last!

I know I promised to do some updates while we were still actually in Bali, but the Internet connection speeds were just rediculously sloooowww... that, and relaxing took up so much of my time!

Sooo...... here are some shots of our fabulous hotel, the Alam Kulkul. We were very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The tropical gardens and flowers all along this winding path, pictured, led all the way to our room. As you look across the pool - you can just make out our room there!
This photo is taken at the front door of our room looking back to where the last photo was taken.
This balcony/patio area was so private, that you could lay down and read a book and no-one would know that you were there unless they spotted your feet poking out
More of the private patio surrounded by lush tropical garden..... blisssss
Well this is our room, I forgot to take a photo the moment we arrived - it had been a loooonnggg day and I was tired! (Plane delay of 6 hours!) So consequently the room looks a little lived in... yup shopping bags everywhere.

Everyday we had flowers on the bed, I had mentioned how much I liked the pink/yellow frangipanis (flowers) to the housekeeping guys (yes they were all male house keepers - a good precendent!) and from that time on I had extra flowers on the bed and in the ashtray outside... (I used it as a floating bowl)

Aren't they beautiful?? I was spoilt!... I will devote a whole post to the flower display in the lobby, I won't say too much now - but it was brilliant!

We met this guy on our first night - while we were having tea.... he is the size of my forearm or slightly smaller... in the world of gecko Lizards ... he's huge!!

Our first day out adventuring - we didn't really get very far - but wound up here for a nice lunch... The legian beach hotel, just down the road from ours.

Well thats it for now.... I have a bit of editing to do to the rest of the photos. So I will add a few more when I get organised.

There are a just couple.... hundred!

we had a fun wait in the airport on the Tuesday that we left. we got to the airport at 6am with plenty of time to spare for catching our 8.00am flight. unfortunately the message to tell us about our flight being delayed by 6 hours was made on our home phone number in GERALDTON!!
nevermind..

we got here and since then its been lovely!

we will be posting some photos as soon as we find somewhere reliable to do our internet stuff.... has not been easy! Specially as almost all the places we've tried so far have NO AIRCONDITIONING!!

We're going to BALI!!

In just under two weeks Dave and I are off to Bali for a fortnight of relaxing, shopping, surfing, shopping, massages, shopping, long lazy lunches, shopping and exploring!!

This is a photo of the Hotel that we have booked, the Alam Kulkul, it seems really nice and is very close to the surf for Davie, and close to the shops for me!
This is where I expect Dave will spend quite a bit of his time
I guess this is where you'll find me!!
If not here!!!
sorry...
I really shouldn't be "rubbing it in"
(pardon the pun)
PS: I will definitly try and post some photos of us and our adventures while we are over there... if we are not too busy with the above activities!!!

Melinda & Michaels Wedding

On the seventh day of the seventh month, of the year 2007 Melinda and Michael were married. It was a beautiful ceremony held in St Johns church, Geraldton. Being a July wedding the weather was possibly going to be a worry, but with 07,07,07 considered to be a very lucky day it seemed almost fate that the weather was immaculately perfect, no wind, and not at all cold. The day was magic.

The bride to be, being a master event planner, had thought of everything and had created many gorgeous details, from bowls of pink marshmellow hearts and pink and brown M&M's, pearl earring gifts to fireworks on the night, nothing was too much for this event!! However, being told that you're to do a speech moments before the bride arrives, does make one wonder about some of the planning for the bigger details!!!! (thanks Mel!)

The venue was spectacular, giving visitors to Geraldton a view of the beautiful beaches and sunsets from the balcony of the brand new surf club, the food was great, the MC, Lou, was the best - with his hysterical poems about the happy couple, there was lots of dancing, quite a few games, speeches and fun - and after the speeches the lucky bride was told, as were we all, where her secret honeymoon destination would be - Vietnam.

It was the perfect wedding that any girl would dream of... We wish much happiness to you both!

Oscar loves Dandaragan!

this little pooch was so excited when he knew we were pulling into Dandaragan, .. his home away from home!
As Margie's garden is so great to hunt bugs in, and chase birdies and generally have fun free reign!
Freedom that includes, flying across the golf course, or up the street to say Hi to the all the neighborhood dogs, peeing* on the big Alsation's fence... the fence that keeps the Alsation from eating Oscar....
(*kinda like going "Nyah Nyah Na Na Na!!" in dog language)
Yes Oscar likes to live on the wild side..... however posing with pretty rose bushes is not really high on his list of priorities - so consequently he doesn't look so pleased with me.... BUT HE LOOKS SOOOOO CUTE AND ADORABLE

I might send a copy to the Alsation down the street.

Mothers Day weekend at Dandaragan

We headed south to the farm this weekend to spend Mothers Day with Margie. We joined Helen, Dene and Jordan - all of us staying with Margie & Hazza.
Colleen, Johnno and the girls, Emily and Amber came for tea on Saturday night
Early Mothers Day morning while Margie and Hazza went to church - the boys organised a "Berrington" Breakfast (pancakes on the BBQ) After a little refinement of the recipe (by Hel's) they did very well and were very tasty
afterwards we went out to the farm and had Emily and Amber drive us around

we fed the cows

and looked at the sheep

and at the fig tree!!

Margie said she was very happy to have all her chicks around her for Mother's Day - and it really was a lovely weekend!

:)

Oh! While we were there we finally cut the top tier of our wedding cake!!

Easter Campin'

We went camping over the Easter Break - we headed up to a prime camping spot at Buller River, 10 mins north of Geraldton on the beach.

Although we went with Neil and Sarah, folks come and went over the whole weekend, it was great, Cathe and the boys stayed one night, as did Mark-o, who entertained us brilliantly with his guitar and singing around the fire. kevin the "jet motorcyle man with the funky hair" came for a visit on his new bike. Pete Ange Kyle and CHanelle came out for a couple of hours and to test their new Prado....

(I hid Jake and Levi's Easter Eggs... unfortunately they were too easy
for them to find so I missed out... doh! )

Of course no camping trip would be quite right without some attempt at Fishing, and although we were not overly inundated with fish, the boys did catch a couple. Including this spectacular sunset display! (The best catch by far)

Mark-o again entertained us (and the rest of the beach) when he and Dave managed to construct a long tow rope off the back of Neil's 4 wheeler and risking Neils board to 'skurf' along the beach. I think he managed to do this once or twice successfully and this is when I got my photo! (note the dog Dozer in the background frantically trying to keep up with his master!)

happy birthday chanelle

Happy Birthday Little Miss!
Little miss Chanelle celebrated her very first birthday
she did it in style cutting her own cake
(the knife was bigger than her)
and then helping herself to the best bits of her cake!
